Project Management and Evaluation

Written by Friday, 28 September 2018 16:29

You are required to develop a charter for the Project including:

Include the Project description and overview you developed as part of Assessment 2.

Part One:
MOV - Measurable Organisational Value
(This is the goal of the project and is utilised to define the value that your team project will bring to your client)
•Identify the desired area of impact - Rank the following areas in terms of importance: Strategy / Customer / Financial / Operational / Social
•With reference to your project, identify one or two of the following types of value:

  • Better - is improving quality important to your client?
  • Faster - does your client want to increase efficiency?
  • Cheaper - is cutting costs important?
  • Do more - does your client want to continue its growth?

•Develop an appropriate metric - this sets the target and expectation of all the stakeholders. It is important to determine a quantitative target that needs to be expressed as a metric in terms of an increase or decrease of money.
•Determine the timeframe for achieving the MOV - ask yourselves, when do we want to achieve this target metric?
•SUMMARISE THE MOV IN A CLEAR CONCISE STATEMENT OR TABLE

(Note: the MOV should inform everyone what the project will achieve, not how it will be achieved. It should also focus on the organisation, not on the technology that will be used to build or support the information system).

Part Two:
Define Scope and produce a Scope Management Plan
Define the scope of the project and detail how the scope will be managed.
Provide a list of Resources
Identify and detail the resources for the project using MS Project where appropriate, including:

  • People (and their roles), plus any extra personnel that is required for the project.
  • Technology - any hardware, network and software need to support the team and your client.
  • Facilities - where will most of the teamwork be situated?
  • Other - for example, travel, training etc.

Part Three:

Using MS Project, develop a schedule using a high-level Work Breakdown Structure (WBS). It should include:

  • Milestones for each phase and deliverable
    • This will tell everyone associated with the project that the phase or deliverable was completed satisfactorily.
  • Activities / Tasks
    • Define a set of activities/tasks that must be completed to produce each deliverable.
  • Resource Assignments
    • Assign people and resources to each individual activities.
  • Estimates for Each Activity / Task
    • Develop a time estimate for each task or activity to be completed.
  • Project Budget
    • Develop a budget using the time and resources estimated for each task or activity

A summary of the WBS should be clearly provided in the report. You must include complete screenshots of your own MS project file in your assignment report and keep your MS project file with you. You lecturer might request your files to be sent individually for marking.

Part Four:

Project Risk Analysis and Plan

  • Document any assumptions you have made about the project
  • Using the Risk Identification Framework outlined in your text as a basis, identify five risks to the project – one for each of the five phases of the methodology.
  • Analyse these risks, assign a risk to an appropriate member, and describe a strategy for the management of each specific risk.

Part Five:

Quality Management Plan. It should include:

  • A short statement that reflects your team’s philosophy or objective for ensuring that you deliver a quality system to your client.
  • Develop and describe the following that your project team could implement to ensure quality;
    • A set of verification activities
    • A set of validation activities

Project management Assignment

Written by Friday, 28 September 2018 15:58

Refer to background information provided in Assessment 1 regarding the Headspace project. In 2005 the Australian Government allocated $54 million to establish the National Youth Mental Health Foundation (later to be named headspace). “Our brief is to make sure services are available at the earliest possible point when problems emerge. The criteria to get help is pretty simple – you must be 12 – 25. That’s it.” Aimed to address the health and wellbeing concerns of young people by providing a holistic platform of care. This would give teenagers and young adults comfort that their support will be co-ordinated and integrated across primary and specialist care, and not just focus on the ‘illness’ but also social inclusion and recovery.

Youth assigned to a headspace case worker may subsequently be admitted to the Emergency Department (ED) of the local regional hospital. Currently there the no requirement for the ED staff to notify the headspace case worker when a client has been released. Sometimes case workers are notified, but often not. It means that days and even weeks can transpire before a case worker becomes aware of that release. In the mean time the young person tends to return to the environment and circles of influence that led to the mental health problems in the first place, without the coping and support mechanisms that a case worker can provide.

Complete the Following

Please refer to the marking guide when preparing your response to see what criteria and standards will be used to assess your work and your progress.

Consider that funding has been approved for a project to build a system that will capture the ‘story’ the first time it is told, and give access to successive professionals, so that case notes and the story can become enriched, and the young person can be assisted more appropriately. You are the business systems analyst assigned to the project, you will need to produce:

Stakeholder map

  • Draw stakeholder role names on a stakeholder map with 4 quadrants, Internal-Operation, Internal-Executive, External-Operation, External-Executive
  • For each stakeholder, describe why they have an interest in the project.

Questionnaire

Create one questionnaire that you would send to one stakeholder group with an aim to help you identify further details about the environment, the problem area and/or how the system would operate to help solve the problem.

  • Identify which stakeholder you are going to send the questionnaire to
  • Write an introduction statement that would go with the questionnaire explaining the purpose of the questionnaire
  • Write 10 questions, either open and/or closed ended questions
  • This should be written as a questionnaire that could be distributed
  • Only write the questions, you should not write the answers

Use Case diagram and descriptions

  • Draw a use case model for the information system
  • Write brief Use Case description for each Use Case in the diagram
  • Write one fully developed Use Case description for one of the important Use Cases identified. Select an important Use Case that is key part of the system, not a basic simple Use Case.

Audit reporting assignment help

Written by Friday, 28 September 2018 14:29

Since 2016, there has been a strong push to improve the quality of audit reporting. Listed entities now have to report on “key audit matters” and improve the way material information is communicated using “plain English”. As mentioned in the CPA Australia podcast “How is Enhanced Auditor Reporting being Embraced around the Globe?” (available at CPA Australia website):

“The IAASB’s new auditor reporting requirements commenced in December 2016. Standard setters in many jurisdictions, including Australia and New Zealand, have issued the new requirements with the same effective date, whilst others have committed to issue the standards but have not yet done so. The UK have had similar requirements in place since 2013 and some firms in other countries have early adopted the IAASB’s requirements. Jim Sylph, Co- chairman of the IAASB’s Auditor Reporting Implementation Working Group, and Merran Kelsall, IAASB member and AUASB Chairman spoke to CPA Australia about the uptake and impact of enhanced auditor reporting around the globe.”

<Note> Refer to the links below and listen to the podcast before you commence the assignment.

Required:
Based on your analysis of the auditors’ sections and other areas pertaining to the auditor, as included within the Annual Report, submit a report which summarises and evaluates the auditor’s assurance services performed for the client company.
As part of your review of the assurance services provided, consider the following:
 Has the auditor complied with Independence requirements?

 If there were non-audit services provided, what was the nature of such services?

 Provide an analysis of the Auditor’s remuneration in a table with prior year comparisons. Include percentage changes and explanations of the remuneration.

 In relation to the key audit matters, which audit procedures were performed to provide assurance over each matter? Summarise and paraphrase each key audit matter. Correctly classify each audit procedure listed as: tests of controls, substantive tests of detail, substantive test of balances or analytical procedures.

 Is there an Audit committee? Are there any non-executive directors on the audit committee? Is there an Audit Committee Charter? If so, summarise the main points of the charter including: the structure, function and responsibilities of the Audit Committee.

 What type of Audit Opinion was expressed?

 How do the Directors’ and Management’s responsibilities differ from the Auditor’s responsibilities in relation to the financial report?

 Were there any material subsequent events? If so, briefly outline them and paraphrase and summarise how they were treated.

 As an interested third party stakeholder, make an assessment of the effectiveness of the material information reported by the Auditor in your conclusion.

 Consider whether there is any material information which could be missing, under-reported and/or not fully explained or disclosed in an effective way for the intended users?
 What follow-up questions would you ask the Auditor at the company’s Annual General Meeting?
